Like many fans I can’t help but imagine what will get with the next Ninja Gaiden. We know it is in the works as concept at the moment and fans can’t help but wish what they want. As I read the forums I see the wishes and want them just as bad as you. However I can’t help but notice as some of these wishes ask for the Team Ninja team to look back and use the past games as examples of what they should keep tearing fans between Ninja Gaiden 2 or 1 preferences. The release of Ninja Gaiden 3 Razor Edge shows me that they got that lesson since it brought back the stuff we liked. For those who do not understand what I mean it is simple Ninja Gaiden 3 added two cool things it took away others that made the game series great. Later on in Razor edge we got those cool tricks back.
Those things were UT(Ultimate Techinque), more weapons other than swords and more magic options. They were taken away for more realistic approach. A train of though which I never understood as this is an over the top fantasy adventure game. We did have UT for the sword but they were the same animation as the grip of murder steel and steel on bonne (an installment to give players a new element to deal with through the Curse Ryu recessives) and only difference is that Ryu attacked the enemies quickly and how many depended on the level of the sword. The game later received dlc with weapons that would be added in with the Razor edge. The weapon and magic menu both gave you a sense that the game wasn’t finished as it gave a selection with nothing in it.
With Razor Edge Team Ninja showed that the ideas they implemented in Ninja Gaiden 3 didn’t work so they returned to the old format with some added ideas like the grid learning system. Granted the game was basically a sigma as we got extra characters like Ayane and Kasumi as playable characters and other things like boss challenges we got with the previous Sigma games. Don’t get me wrong I understand all to well that all want them to remember what makes Ninja Gaiden Great as we make our list heck I am their with you. Yet we should remember that the fact they made Razor Edge means they knew they screwed up. So here is to a great next installment.
As always thank you for reading.
