Team Ninja had a big hit on there hands with NiOh. There own dark souls you can say. But with it success some people are thinking that is it for Ninja Gaiden. I will break this down t prove that is not the case.
Yes Nioh was a good game. Team Ninja found a nice balance between implanting dark souls gameplay as many have but make sure it feels different. This comes with the spirits animals which you collect along the way as William fights through the Japanese land scape. We know people loved it as the studio announced it was working on a sequel. With that said though this doesn’t mean the series is dead.
While yes Nioh is another action game gaiden has a fan base that is just waiting for the next installment. Something that gaming press knows as well as Team Ninja were asked about Ninja Gaiden 4.
“Creative director Tom Lee had the following to say when quizzed by US Gamer about whether Team Ninja had moved on from the Ninja Gaiden franchise:
“Maybe I can say that Nioh is a gateway into the next chapter for Ninja Gaiden. [Ninja Gaiden] is a very important, if not the most important franchise, for us. But at this point I think this franchise needs to be in the shadows for a while until we bring it back. There will be a time, and when the time is right, we will bring it back.”
Basically they are thinking about the game as they work on Nioh using it as a prelude for when they bring the next installment forward.
Even with that out of the way we still have the thought of them being separate as Nioh and Ninja Gaiden share the same frustrating and fowl mouth cursing challenges in difficulty. But where they are different is in gameplay as Ryu plays different from William with his charging and magic uses. These and weapons upgrades make the gameplay different between the games.
So to me Nioh doesn’t satisfy the ninja action itch of Ninja Gaiden and thus as with other reasons mentioned we will be seeing a new one. However when is something to be asked. Those are my thoughts but let me know what you think.
As always thank you for reading.
