A nice little rumor is going around about The King Of Fighters XV that shows the game might be going after the look that Arc system works perfected with Guilty Gear Xrd and more recent with Dragon Ball FighterZ.
This is interesting only that it reminds me of the conversation between KOF XIII and XRD. They being released around the same time but there were those asked why didn’t SNK just do the same thing. One Xrd look was brand new leaving little idea on how they exactly did it. 2nd most artist and companies try to go for there own look. Whether it be for originality or legal reason. But this came up again when we heard that the 2d look SNK was using was difficult to reproduce and thus why KOF XIII only ad 3 DLC characters when much more was planned such as Rugal brother who raised Adel and Rose.
Seeing the look they are going after is reminding me of that conversation but also high interested in the finally look. But seeing this again might not make the 2d people happy completely but seeing the game return to an anime like look should at least get people happy. One reason is the over effect should be over the top again as it was in KOF XIII as which was a step above as compared to XIV. To give you an idea Kyo climax was him performing a punch combo with dynamic camera work alone. In XIII he had a move where he released a flaming wave that traveled the screen. Even Raiden aka Big Bear ultimate which was a close line had some better effects than some of the final moves for the KOF XIV roaster. If you want more evidence than just check out video of XRD instant kills or DFZ lvl 3.
Now I admit there is a chance that this is not true. This is after all based on a rumor. But keep in mind the Samurai Showdown is a test for the unreal engine for SNK. With that in mind the company CEO has promised that KOF XV will look better than KOF XIV and Samurai Spirits. But what will that look like? Given the game will be coming out in 2020 I don’t think we will have to wait long to find out. But let me know your thoughts on this.
As always thank you for reading.
