PlayStation, Nintendo and Microsoft are all being investigate for consumer right violations. Basically the CMA (Competition and Markets Authority) is looking to see if the 3 gaming giants have been treating customers fairly online.
The CMA will be checking out the online gaming contracts that the companies have. They are checking to see if they are fair to us the consumer. Basically if we can obtain a refund easily if we terminate the service.
“Roll-over contracts are becoming more and more commonplace and its essential that they work well for customers. Our investigation will look into whether the biggest online gaming companies are being fair with their customers when they automatically renew their contracts, and whether people can easily cancel or get a refund.
Should we find that the firms aren’t treating people fairly under consumer protection law, we are fully prepared to take action.”CMA chief executive Andrea Coscelli in an official statement.
